Getting to Bendigo
Located in the geographical centre of Victoria, Bendigo is serviced by high quality road and air links. Situated at the junction of the Calder, McIvor, Midland and Loddon Valley Highways, Bendigo is well placed. There are also excellent connections to other interstate highways nearby. For visitors travelling from Melbourne, Bendigo is a comfortable 90 minutes drive.
If you're driving from Melbourne take the Calder Highway (A79), from Sydney the Hume Highway (31), from Mildura the Calder Highway (A79) from Horsham the Wimmera Highway (B240) central NSW via Echuca the Midland Highway (A300). If driving from Melbourne's Tullamarine airport, follow the Sunbury signage on to the Calder Freeway to Bendigo.
By 2009, the Calder Highway upgrade (estimated cost of $404 million) will make it even easier to get to Bendigo by car. Between Melbourne and Bendigo, the highway will be upgraded to a four lane divided road for all but 34 kms between Malmsbury and Ravenswood, where it reverts to a two lane highway.
